Global Day of Prayer

This Sunday, June 12th, will be filled with prayer from all over the world. Think of it: 24 hours of different voices continually raised to God in praises and petitions. What an exciting time to add your voice to the chorus of languages speaking with and listening to God. There is not a local push to get people engaged or gathered. This is a totally self-initiated day of prayer for us. Think about how you can participate. For more information click here.

Abandon! Call to Worship

“‘Sing, O childless woman! Break forth into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, even though you never gave birth to a child. For the woman who could bear no children now has more than all the other women,” says the Lord. ‘Enlarge your house; build an addition; spread out your home! For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will take over other nations and live in their cities.” – Isaiah 54.1-3

We have a problem. We have created a nice little house church for ourselves. It was not intentional. We have read and fed and bled together.  We have prayed and we have tried.  But we have no children…yet. We tried to help others know Jesus and gather together like we do but so far we have been unsuccessful. We have no offspring. We are barren.

I believe God is about to change that fact. I believe the God is calling us to a time of worship because we are about to reproduce. We are about to see the Spirit poured out on us. In preparation, we need to worship. Worship loudly and worship joyfully! Worship will precede reproduction. Then our houses will be filled to overflowing by who God brings. We are on the edge of a might river flow of the Spirit of God. Prepare to be amazed by His gracious, abundant generosity. Worship Loudly and with Abandon!

Recipe Tuesdays: April’s Cornbread

This is really awesome cornbread.  April adapted this recipe from this one at No Ordinary Homestead.  She changed the vegetable oil to coconut oil and the all-purpose flour to whole wheat.

2 cups cornmeal (April grinds popcorn kernels for this)
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (April grinds hers fresh)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup white sugar
2 medium eggs
1/2 cup coconut oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). In a small bowl, combine cornmeal and milk; let stand for 15 minutes or more. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix in the cornmeal mixture, eggs and oil until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center of the cornbread comes out clean.

This is a new video from Karis Publishing.  They are associated with House2House.  Upside-Down Leadership is a great introduction to leadership in the house church.  I recommend it very highly.  The video is available online, watch it below.  However, you will miss the bonus features, which are excellent and very practical.  This DVD is a must-have.  It lays a great foundation for leaders.  It will encourage you and guide you at the same time.  Your house church needs this video.  The bonus features are:
